Everyone wants to consider themselves “hardcore” but this title isn’t just given to any Joe Shmo that goes to the gym a few days a week, it must be earned. To be hardcore you got to have dedication, discipline, patience and most importantly, desire. Hardcore isn’t just about what you do, it’s also a state of mind.
Hardcore is setting your alarm for 2am so you get up to down a protein shake. Hardcore is getting up at 6am to jump on the treadmill. Hardcore is waking up, sore as hell and making a b line to the mirror to check your progress.
Hardcore is that something that doesn’t allow you to quit on your last rep and forces you to get one more. Hardcore is putting everything you’ve got into your workout no matter how tired you are. Hardcore is being in the gym before that other guy got there and leaving after he’s gone.
Hardcore is staying home on a Friday night to cook your meals for the weekend. Hardcore is eating out of Tupperware 6 meals a day 7 days a week. Hardcore is never going out to eat because you don’t trust the food unless you make it yourself. Hardcore is eating the same plain, flavorless food day in and day out.
Hardcore is smiling when all of your friends and family hassle you about being “obsessed.” Hardcore is asking for supplements and a new lifting belt for Christmas. Hardcore is getting pissed off when the gym is closed on holidays.
Hardcore is when you come home from the gym excited tell your spouse how much you lifted that day and how great your workout was. Hardcore is tracking your shipment of new supplements every hour until it arrives. Hardcore is getting excited to travel to another city so you can explore the gyms they have. Hardcore is being sick enough that you actually enjoy all of these things.
